healing (self-portrait)

heal

36 x 36

our new home is green,

lush leaves live.

my unearthed spirit finds light,

it spills in.

the hole in the sky,

streaks of sun coat us,

in our sweet summer malaise.

our home is refuge,

& in this sanctuary,

I am healing.

I am breathing,

illuminated air as I ache,

from these wounds.

raw, pearlescent & stretched,

my thoughts absently trace,

over new skin.

I once was a scab picker,

searching for every chance,

to ensure a scar, a memory, a mark.

I kiss these delicate

light lines, the memories

that brought me here.

I am grateful.

I am reminded.

I am resilient.
